Time and emotional cost
Governed by Articles 1769 to 1777 of the Civil Code, divorce by mutual consentA form of divorce in which both spouses agree to the separation and its terms: assets, children, pensions. can be concluded in weeks rather than years when there is agreement on asset division, parental responsibilities, and any maintenance payments. The advantage lies not only in time, but also in the significantly lower emotional cost for both parties and, above all, for the children.

Not every situation is suited to this path. When there is an imbalance of information between the parties, or suspicion of concealed assets, each party having its own legal representation, even within an amicable process, remains essential.
